Concrete mix is placed under these footers with the idea of placing the concrete around the support posts remaining a controversial topic in local inspection offices. Purlins are the horizontal framing members attaching to these posts. The first purlin is wider than the typical 2x4 purlins (2x8 or 2x6) and consists of treated materials. The following purlins are 2x4's placed 24" O. C. (On Center) until we reach the top supports under the trusses load bearing points where two 2x12 header support beams are needed sandwiching the 4x6 posts to carry the roof weight.
